| After a damp squib, the Crispy season is off - damply but with 48 players including a clutch of Contreras and Newnes. The Swifts (only 2) were not to be seen for dust but Streaky fell at the first, quite a cock-up with (a) stick offered by the Doc. Winner this week was John Parsons from Rob Contreras, Malcolm Lawrence, Will Newnes and, a newcomer, Richard Hatcher. Putting large families in the field obviously helps. Although there was a stiff competition to buy crisps, of note are Greying Adams, chaffing, needs-a-dummy, dusty (always generous) and the oldish pro. It was good to see a good number in the clubhouse, perhaps exhausted by the society thoughtfully booked in just before us. Someone who got out before them forgot to pay - easy to do and easy to rectify - please! |
